Innate is a keyword which causes the card to always start in your opening hand. Technically, it works as if cards with Innate are on the top of your draw pile before your first draw, thus meaning it does take a draw space from your starting hand. Despite this, if you have more Innate cards than your starting hand could draw, you will draw all of them, exceeding your starting hand size up to the maximum hand size limit of 10. If you have more than 10 Innate cards, the remainder will be randomly placed on top of your draw pile. Additonally, having 6 or more Innate cards will still allow Ring of the Snake, Ring of the Serpent and Bag of Preparation to activate and draw 1 or 2 more cards on top of those Innate cards.

Although working similarly, Innate is a separate mechanic from the Bottled Relics, which add a specified card to your starting hand each combat. Cards with the "Innate" keyword will keep that effect if duplicated by an event. The Bottled Relics, however, will not affect any duplicates of the chosen card.

A discarded Innate card will be reshuffled into your draw pile like any other cards.
