Spot Weakness is an Uncommon Skill for the Ironclad. If the target intends to attack, the player gains 3 Icon Strength Strength (4 Strength if the card is Upgraded).

Spot Weakness can still target enemies that don't intend to attack, but has no effect when played.

If the selected enemy's attack has some extra effect, such as the Blue Slaver's Rake attack, Spot Weakness will still grant Strength. It will also still grant Strength if the enemy's attack will do zero damage.

Strategy[]

  • Although the RunicDome Runic Dome hides enemy intents, this card can help reveal if the enemy is attacking this turn, as it will either fail if they are not, or it will grant the player Icon Strength Strength. This is useful against non-deterministic enemies like Thieves, but it can also lead to a waste of Energy.
  • The Strength gained from Spot Weakness is repeatable and lasts the rest of the battle, which makes it an excellent enabler for Limit Break.
  • Spot Weakness is a strong utility card for defensive Icon Block Block-heavy decks. It sets up future power turns while the player defends against incoming attacks.
  • The card is more reliable than it initially appears, since most enemy turns are attacks. The times when it's inactive are also the turns that it's least useful - if the enemy doesn't intend to attack, the player can go all-out with attacks instead of playing defensive cards.
